Alumni Spotlight: Meet Dr Byron Green-Calisch

This month’s spotlight features Dr. Byron Green-Calisch, who serves as  Vice President of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility at PRX and as President of St. Pete Pride.

What year did you graduate from Leadership St. Pete?

The Greatest of All Time–class of 2023.

‍

What is your professional job and what do you do in it?

PRX is one of the world’s top podcast publishers, public radio distributors, and audio producers. I work with organizations and shows to ensure they are meeting their equity goals and create capacity where resources may feel strained.

‍

What are your free time hobbies?

I volunteer as the president for St Pete Pride, and vice president-elect with the St. Pete Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA).

What was your class project?

Allendale Center for Justice and Equity

‍

Have you visited your class project since its completion? If yes, how did it feel to revisit your work?

I have and it was absolutely amazing! Seeing organizations make use of the space and people benefitting felt like all the hard work was worth it!

‍

What has your LSP involvement been since graduation?

I serve on the LSPAA Board of Directors and as the LSPAA Community Service chair.

‍

What’s next for you?

We are hoping to expand our family with the addition of a little human!!

Anything else?

I have recently launched a nonprofit with Florida Representative Michele Rayner called Justice Over Everything that is a Social Justice Center. We are looking to provide low cost and pro bono legal services to those who may not be able to afford it, in addition to providing education around the justice system and our political process.
